Deep garnet in color, this wine bursts with aromas of sweetened cranberry, cassis, toasted marshmallow, charred dill and roasted red pepper. The aroma is smoky, complex and inviting. On the palate are notes of tart raspberry, spring cherry and crunchy plum, leading to toffee and fresh roasted Arabica coffee beans, followed by dill, sage and lime zest. The finish is smooth with hints of smoke, cocoa and unsweetened dried coconut.
The vineyards incorporated in this blend continue to reach to new corners of California with each vintage, adding complexity to the wine. The Lodi fruit contributes plum and cassis characteristics, and round, supple tannins. The Clarksburg fruit adds cold climate nuances in the form of powerful tannins, zesty lime and tart raspberry notes. A significant new component of the blend is Merlot from Mendocino, showing bright acidity, savory herbs and brilliant cherry. The Ruby Cab and Rubired from Lodi add beautiful color in the glass and depth to the mid palate. Lodi Zinfandel helps balance the tannins and adds brambly fruit and complexity. Finally, the Clarksburg Petite Sirah makes its way into the mix for color and depth.
"A well-rounded effort that is sure to please folks looking for a good-drinking wine, the 2015 Leese-Fitch Cabernet Sauvignon shows up with open-knit flavors of ripe berries and sweet wood. The wine's well-balanced structure, without any tannic edge, makes it a perfect choice with mixed grilled meats." – Wilfred Wong of Wine.com, 90pts
"Complex aromas of beet root, sandalwood, and cassis. The mouthfeel is soothed with silky tannins and the flavor profile is a virtual spice cabinet of tarragon, clove, basil, dill, and cardamom with a cherry-oaked, marshmallow finish." – The Tasting Panel, 90pts.
