This dark but lively Pinot Noir is full of freshly picked boysenberry and raspberry on the nose up front, with layers of white pepper, violets and rosehips adding to its complexity and concentration. On the palate, fine tannins give way to a delicate, structured finish.
"This is a hearty version of the variety for this producer, known for its oft-lighter approach. It reveals skill as well, the grapes from another prime site overseen by brand partner Bill Price. A feral shock of mushroom dominates on the nose before punchy tannins and a medium-body distract slightly in contoured texture, only barely letting in crisp flavors of orange peel and dark cherry.b and cherry atop forest floor. Smooth, it hides elusive power on the significant finish." – Wine Enthusiast, 91pts.
"This Pinot Noir from Lutum is from the Gap's Crown Vineyard, which is located at southern part of the Sonoma Coast. The vineyard in a cooler climate and is composed of rocky soils with excellent drainage, which are ideal conditions for Pinot Noir. As the wine begins to open it offers bold aromas of red fruit, crushed strawberries, dried herb, and rose petals. It is full-boddied with lots of dense red berries, currant and fresh minerality. This certainly needs some bottle age before it's peak and will continue to develop over the next decade plus. (Best 2017-2027) " – International Wine Report, 92pts.
