A prominent white wine made in Northwest Spain for centuries, Albariño has just recently taken a foothold in the U.S., specifically in the Edna Valley. Tangent Wines is at the forefront of this movement and is one of the first wineries to commit a significant portion of their vineyard to this varietal. A wine full of personality, Albariño is irresistibly aromatic, with layers of citrusy flavours and bright acidity.
Made in the traditional style of Rías Baixas Albariño, this wine is pure and vibrant, with a slight salty characteristic. Mandarin orange and tangerine peel begin in the aromatics and run clear through to the finish. The round mouthfeel is beautifully balanced by a somewhat crisp acid structure. The refreshing quality of this wine makes it an excellent aperitif, and it pairs well with most seafoods.
"A beautiful New World rendition of this grape variety, the rich and lively 2015 Tangent Albariño exhibits bright citrus and brisk minerality. The wine's palate richness makes it a fine match with a bowl of steamed clams in wine-infused garlic broth." – Wilfred Wong of Wine.com, 90pts
"Very pithy aromas of grapefruit, squeezed lemon, crisp Asian pear and a touch of chalk show on the nose of this bottling, another strong argument about how well this variety can do in cool coastal California. The flavors are light and crisp, with yellow apple and yellow-grapefruit pith most prominent." – Wine Enthusiast, 89pts
